What The Heck Are They Doing?!?

A popular pet peeve for some of us is people not using their turn indicator while driving.  I admit, it annoys me a lot when people don't signal their intent at all, or if they turn on their blinker during the turn (what's the point?).  How many times do we hear ourselves saying in the car, "What the heck are they doing?!?" - or a similar version but chock-full of expletives?  We may say this regarding other people and businesses when we are not in the car too...
Many people seem to forget that the turn signal is for the OTHER drivers.  Not only is it common courtesy, but it's for safety.  Think how many near-misses would have been avoided if people had their blinker on so you knew what they were planning to do before they suddenly swerved or stopped?

It's the same in life and business.  Not only is it profoundly helpful to OTHERS when you signal your intent in business meetings, and personal relationships, but it is also surprisingly helpful for YOURSELF.  Knowing what you are going for, and being able to articulate to another person has a powerful anxiety-reducing effect, plus it makes you automatically more likely to be successful!

Consider what happens when you do NOT make a habit of signaling your intent to others or yourself.  People are very likely to say about you, or your business, "What the heck are they doing?"

If you aren't clear on your intent, it's time to figure it out.  Then share it with those who matter to you.  When you can articulate answers to the following to someone else so they understand, you will be on the path, creating more success:

1. What do you really want to see happen?  As an example, what do you really want to see happen in your business by the end of this quarter? This year?

2. Who do you need to become?  In other words, what behaviors, habits, processes, routines, tools, or people do you need to add or enhance in order to achieve the goal stated above?  Identify at least one thing you can implement that is very likely to help you be successful.

3. What are you going to do about it?  Identify 1-5 action items that will move you in the direction of your desires, and get to work on the first one immediately.  Keep going!

To your continued success,
