Marvelously Simple, Stupid

“It is always the simple that produces the marvelous.”
-Amelia Barr

Many people think that in order to dream and achieve marvelous things that marvelous measures must be taken.  And when those marvelous measures are deemed too drastic, they stop dreaming and achieving altogether.  However, I have four little words for you:  Keep It Simple, Stupid.

I say that very lovingly, of course.  What I mean by “K-I-S-S” is that you can continue to dream and achieve the marvelous if you just break things down into simpler steps.

Want to completely shift careers?
Research small, simple steps that can help you make that change: maybe it’s taking an online class or identifying other individuals in that business that you can interview and shadow.

Want to retire early?  Identify trusted advisors with whom you can meet to outline next steps and then tackle them one at a time.

The point is: don’t skip to step D without conquering steps B and C first; because conquering steps A, B, and C helps increase your confidence to go on to step D, then E, F, and so on – all the way to marvelous.

Simple is a ripple effect, and it pays off in dividends.  By working out and building your own “simple muscle”, you focus on the things that really matter to you and you learn to cut out the things that don’t.

So the next time something seems “too marvelous”, break it down and K-I-S-S.
