12 Days of Apps: MY FITNESS PAL

Nearly everyone has a goal, New Year's Resolution, or maybe just an intention to improve their health in some way, whether it's getting to the gym more often, reducing unhealthy foods, drinking more water, or some other action.

Even for my business clients, often fitness comes up --because without it, we don't have enough energy to accomplish other goals,
and also because without your health, you don't have much --so it pays to make it top priority.  I've noticed over the past several years that more people use My Fitness Pal than probably any other app. That's because it works well.  Many people I know are tracking workouts and water intake, and it manages this perfectly.  It also helps people who are tracking every calorie, AND for those who like a bit of peer pressure for better results (the accountability/embarrassment factor!), you can "friend" people in your circle and allow others to see your diary, and even post on Facebook for all to see.  If, however, you prefer some quiet tracking and privacy, that is also available.

Note that My Fitness Pal is keen to point out that people who diet with friends lose more- which makes sense since people are less likely to have a major pig-out session if they know others can see it...

My Fitness Pal also offers barcode scanning, custom meals, recipes, and exercises, so frankly it does more than most people really need to get to their level of fitness.  Of course, it can't make you log things in- you still have to hold yourself accountable to do it!

But this app is widely available for mobile devices, and via desktop and it auto-syncs with tons of other apps, so you can make it as effortless as possible to log daily to help you achieve your fitness goals more quickly!

To your continued success,
